British Martini Enfield Rifle .303"
A fine Martini Enfield .303 carbine in very good condition, stock style that of the artillery carbine, the lock is a falling block of Peabody-Martini-Enfield form. Inscribed on the left side of the action is a crown over 'VR' over 'ENFIELD' over '1896' over crown and arrow over 'M.E.303' over 'C.C.1.' The government disposal mark appears on the action and the barrel plus there is a fair number of view, proof and acceptance marks on the barrel and action. The barrel is fitted with a blade foresight and a tangent rear sight. A nice example of this fine early Empire rifle that saw service in African and Indian.
