Narvik Battle plaque, POW or Veteran made
A very interesting, possibly contemporary or a POW made item, commemorating the battle of Narvik. Plaque is beaten sheet copper in a style very similar to WW1 trench art, approx 24x24cm in size, has the 'NARVIK' legend with the battle shield design German eagle above. The copper work is then backed on to a wooden plaque, again very German in execution, with a felt cover to the base. It does not appear to have ever had any fittings or hangers into the back. My personal thoughts are this is a POW or veteran piece, it is a very nice item and certainly of interest to a Kriegsmarine, Narvik or battle shield collector. Something a little different.
