WW1 German S98/05 'Butcher' bayonet - 1st pattern by WKC
A 1st pattern S98/05 Butcher bayonet, with scarce leather frog. Maker marked 'Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie, Solingen'. The first pattern butcher bayonet has the high ears on the crossguard, no flash guards and was made from 1906 until 1915 and came with a metal scabbard. This example is dated 1915. Wooden grips are undamaged and in good smooth condition with a lovely age toning of the grips. Blade is in excellent clean condition, some very minor marks very much typical of a bayonet of this age. A typical 1st pattern 'Butcher' in good condition complimented by a scare leather bayonet frog.
