British 1885 Cavalry Troopers Sword
British 1885 pattern cavalry trooper's sword and scabbard in good condition. Steel bowl guard pierced with a maltese cross, lapped down sides, leather faced grip fixed with 5 studs with the backpiece marked 'A' and 'B'. Blade is in very good condition, 34.5 inches curved single edged with central fuller, marked 2/86, BR under crown (Birmingham Repair Mark) and above 88 plus other viewing and inspection marks, reverse side shows transfer marks to the Yeomanry. Scabbard is an 1882 wood lined pattern with 2 rings near chape, scabbard has worn on the seam to the base metal, has that rich patina of being around a long while and has a number of dings and dents. A good example with plenty of character, of this limited issue sword.
