WW1 Tank Collecting Box, Money Box
An extremely rare cast iron WW1 Tank Collecting Box, these boxes are as old as the Tank itself, introduced to allow the public to help support the funding of the tank. An old penny is placed into the tray of the canon, the plunger pulled back and released to fire the penny into the slot in the side of the tank, a clever idea, which no doubt had children wanting to shoot their pennies into the tank all day. Not many of these have survived; sometimes you see parts of the tank but rarely ever the base unit and canon. This particular example is in excellent all round condition with the canon spring still working and able to shoot a penny, plus it retains some of the original paintwork. A truly iconic tank item that was produced as the tank was born. A stunning tankie collectable.
