WW1 WW2 German boot knife, Gottlieb Hammesfahr blade
WW1 German fighting or trench knife, the left side of the ricasso is marked with a logo and the right side is maker marked Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen. The blade is unsharpened and has a nice spear point tip, blade length is 5 1/2 inches, grip length of 5 inches and overall length approximately 10 1/2 inches. The walnut wooden handle grips are in excellent condition. The cross-guard has space around the blade, which appears to be brass soldered in place, itís quite possible that the blade has been made from a cut down bayonet, especially being a Hammesfahr blade. An exceptionally nice fighting knife that is both purposeful and pleasing to hold. Sadly no scabbard present with this fighting knife.
