WW2 German SA Dagger by Gottfried Hoppe Sohne, rarity level 10
An early SA dagger in very good condition. Maker marked Gottfried Hoppe Sohne, Solingen, rarity level 10 in the Siegert reference. A nice clean blade with minimal marks. The reverse of the lower cross guard has the area letter 'He' for the Hessen Group. The scabbard retains about 60% of its finish, has the early solid nickel hilt and scabbard fittings, all of which are in good condition, the lower fitting has had the left screw over tightened at some point with the screw head nipping the fitting side, the ball has a couple of minor dings to the side and tip. A nice early SA dagger to a scarce maker. Price reflects the condition of this rare maker SA dagger, if this was a mint dagger it would be around the 800-1000 mark.
