RAF Officers No. 6 Tropical Dress Tunic - H.W. Harrison, Greek DFC
RAF Officers No.6 Tropical Dress tunic, tailored by Herbert Chappell Ltd. for Group Captain H. W. Harrison, label indicates tunic was made in 1962. Tunic has Group Captains epaulettes and a WW2 medal ribbon bar which includes the Greek Distinguished Flying Cross. The tunic is in good condition with a couple of minor material snags, the inner lining has some discolouration. Tunic measurements are 40-42 inch chest, 21 inches across the arms, 35 inch drop from collar to hem with an arm length of 25 inches shoulder to cuff. It appears that there was an RAF Pilot Officer Henry Willoughby Harrison who flew Gladiator biplanes with 112 Squadron in 1940, claiming a number of Italian enemy aircraft for which he was awarded the Greek D.F.C. Harrison became an acting Group Captain sometime after 1953 up until retirement in 1972, the indication would seem that this tunic once belonged to him.
