WW1 German Patriotic Iron Cross Pocket Watch Cover and Galonne Pocket Watch
A lovely German 1914 patriotic pocket watch case containing a Galonne pocket watch. Watch case has a see through front Perspex type clear front, though this has gone a little opaque over time. The back of the case has a 1914 Iron Cross under a large ‘1914’ with flying flags either side, below within a banner is ‘In Treue fest’. The inside has the remains of felt padding for the watch. The watch is Galonne Swiss made antique silver pocket watch, circ early 1900s to WW1 period. Watch is marked with the serial number 80336 (case). Dial is in nice condition with the hands apparently being gold, however some minor chips between the ‘7’ and ‘8’ positions. The case is ‘800’ marked solid silver along with the German authority mark for silver and a ‘DB’, the front face ring is rose gold, overall excellent condition with minimal wear. Watch diameter: Ψ 48 mm Weight: 70 g / 2.47 oz. The watch is not currently running though I am tempted to take it to a jewellers, it may simply need a hundred years of muck cleaning out. A really nice veteran bring back.
