SS Helfen sliver clasp-badge in '800' silver
A scarce WW2 SS Helfensilver clasp-badge as worn by the SSfemale helpersawarded for faithful service, thought to be an award for special diligence and devotion to duty. It is my belief that this is a post-war veteran badge as this is a particularly scarce badge. The SS-HELFERINNENwere female personnel who had been trained at the Reichsschule-SS at Oberenheim and incorporated into the SS-Helferinnen andwere an essentialpart of the SS with their specialist communications skills. The badge is nicely made, solid silver, marked '800' on the top of the frame, approx 40mm x 8mm and about 3-4mm-ish thick so quite a substantial badge. The badge has a safety hook and brooch fitting as you might expect for female wear. It should be seen as a post-war veteran association badge, hence price. None of the usual copy houses have these badges so I am comfortable that its most likely a veteran badge rather than a wartime piece. That aside, it is a lovely badge, fine detail and nicely presented.
